This project analyses how emotional stimuli affect the lexical memory in the L2 learning process. We consider two research questions: a) Do emotional experiences improve the vocabulary learning process? b) Is there a relationship between this affection and the type of recovery and the level of competence? To give an answer, we conducted a quantitative study in which 42 English-speaking students of Spanish participated, organized into two groups: experimental and control. The same didactical sequencing has been implemented, a set of 26 terms from the field of gastronomy was used. In the experimental group, the sequencing has been accompanied by two emotional stimuli. The results show higher retrieval rates in the experimental group, which confirms the positive impact of stimulus in the lexical memory. The level of competence did not influence any of the cases, but the type of recovery did.
